Dakota Johnson, Fifty Shades of Grey

I can already feel the eyes rolling from here and, to some degree, I understand. Roll them if you must, but my vision was firmly planted on the sublime Dakota Johnson for the entirety of Sam Taylor-Johnson's much-mocked but not-half-bad adaptation of Fifty Shades of Grey. Johnson imbues her unexceptional wallflower role with incredibly compelling layers of humor, detail, and indecision, finding a real and fully-realized girl where once was only an empty vessel of subhuman eroticism.

kristiantaylorwood: "Me with Bruce Wayne and Selina Kyle. Released from the vault at last. Miss you D&J! Photo by movie photography legend @chuckzlotnick #FiftyShadesOfGrey #Jamiedornan #dakotajohnson #iwishiwashalfasprettyastheseguys"

kristiantaylorwood: "Dakota is such a kook @greyandanasteele , she is so much fun with a great energy. Jamie in my opinion is a million times cooler in real life than Christian. Jamie is really funny, clever and has a huge heart. I love them both. Working with them and the best film crew in the world in one of the most beautiful cities was a brilliant experience. All of it was the best part"

'Fifty Shades of Grey' star Dylan Neal had revealed Sam Taylor-Johnson was ''very comfortable'' directing the movie based on the best-selling novel.

The 48-year-old director recently announced her decision to walk away from the money-spinning franchise, but according to Dylan Neal, there was no sign of her unhappiness on the set of the first movie.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, the actor - who starred as Bob Adams, the step-father of Dakota Johnson's on-screen character Anastasia Steele - said: ''She was lovely. She was really, really lovely."

''My scenes were with just Dakota and Jennifer [Ehle] - they were really simple scenes, nothing complicated, but she [Sam] seemed very relaxed and she just seemed like a lovely women, a great sense of humour and very comfortable in the role of directing this highly scrutinised film."

''I wish I could have spent more time with her and the cast, but my takeaway was someone who was very comfortable and confident in knowing what she wanted.''

What's more, Dylan revealed he still doesn't know whether he'll return to the role for the next movie in the franchise.

He said: ''I had to sign a multi-picture deal.

''I don't believe Bob is in the second book, but I know he is in the third book. But each of these screenplays are going to be there own thing and how much they follow exactly from the books - I have no idea, so I don't know if I'll be in the second one or not.

''I know it's been out there that they're going to put a slight thriller angle on them, so you know there is going to be a slight departure from the books and that's probably a smart decision too.''

'Fifty Shades of Grey' is available on Digital HD now and Blu-ray, DVD on June 22, 2015 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

What was it like working with Dakota and Jamie on this movie?

Marcia Gay Harden: They’re both so lovely. They were just fantastic. I mean obviously I wasn’t in the red room of pain and pleasure so the scenes that we had were like any other scene in any other movie. It was interesting to see what their subtle interaction would be. I happen to know they were holding hands under the table so the question is does Mama Grey know? Can she pick up on it? What does the family see when they are seeing the two of them interacting? They were both very subtle and very lovely. Dakota is very demure and I think she is one of the few people I know that has the ability to blush, so she had this sort of innocence about her. Jamie is a very compassionate person, very funny, very witty. I think that was something lovely that he brought to the character because he could have just been this cold character but I think Jamie brought a lot of his yearning.

With a recent role as one of the female graduates in Fifty Shades of Grey and another background role in the Fox crime-comedy series Backstrom, 22-year-old Canadian actress Anna Sargeant has been appearing on both the big and small screens. Real Style spoke to the emerging actress about her experience working with actress Dakota Johnson, her dream role and her strong case of the travel bug.

Real Style: How was the experience of working alongside Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan, as part of the Fifty Shades of Grey cast?

Anna: It was a great experience. Myself, Dakota, Eloise Mumford who played Kate and the other girl in the scene with me, Megan Danso, who played the other graduate, we all sat together in the makeup trailer that morning, chatted and ate breakfast. That was really nice, just being around actors who were just so open and friendly. In terms of acting in the scene, Dakota was just very at ease and very easy in between takes.

I didn’t really talk too much to Jamie. I was obviously ogling him as my part! One of the only interactions I had with him was we were walking around and he was singing, if I remember correctly. He was just singing some show tune, and I was like “Oh, that dude’s talented!” I mainly talked to Dakota on set, but everyone involved was just really lovely, really friendly. The atmosphere on set was really great.
