Luca Guadagnino: "Working with the actors is one of the things that I love most about my job: when it comes to the creation of an environment using their own bodies, and of course regarding their acting. I know exactly what I'm doing, I'm very focused on it, and the casting is fundamental. Dakota Johnson has been chosen [for the role of Penelope] a long time ago and she goes perfectly along with they way I work. She 'respected' all the rules I set, and was really easy-going with all the other members of the cast and performers."

'Black Mass' director Scott Cooper talks about Dakota

"She's young but fearless, she's not afraid of anything. She might seem fragile but she's really tough. Dakota Johnson has been standing Johnny Depp's ground like a boss."

"The actors know that I'm on their side, a part of their team. I love colaborations but I hate auditions, I prefer to meet up with the actors for a few hours and see if we have the same ideas and thoughts. I hate rehearsals, too. The movie must begin with the word 'Action!' and end with 'Cut!'; I'm not looking for parrots that come to set to repeat over and over again something they've learned by memory at home."

Dakota without Shades

“In Venice with a scary role. I’ll be a far more shady seductress than Jane Birkin.”

“I got into character quite easily.” Her character, Penelope, is a malicious seductress. “She’s a young and precious woman, she’s unclear about who she is and what she wants. She has a great ability, she can play with people’s emotions with such a passionate cruelty.” What do you mean? “She’s a troublemaker with a lot of mystery and that shade of confidence that is nerve-wracking for such a young age. Luca describes her as that moment in your life when you finally realize the true meaning of things inside yourself.”

“She likes to play with the people around her,” says Guadagnino. “She manipulates, in the most childish of ways and doesn’t understand the consequences of her cynicism.”

The cast was chosen and they just missed the actress for the role of Penelope. He was looking for “a beautiful actress that wasn’t one of those gorgeous girls movies are so full of nowadays.” Dakota came in last minute, “It’s not true that Dakota came in last minute and neither the fact that she hadn’t shot Fifty Shades of Grey at the time. He went through many actresses and through Sam Taylor-Johnson (the director that put Dakota under the spotlight), Dakota and Luca met. He’d been really attracted by her attention, the awareness and the humor. He immediately told her he did not intend to turn her into a nymphet, a Lolita.”

A Bigger Splash (that takes inspiration from the colorful painting by David Hockney) is a revisit rather than a remake of the well-known ‘La Piscine’. Dakota: “Luca told me, ‘if you wanna see it, then do it’, but we didn’t really talk much about it. I ran to see Alain Delon and Romy Schneider – such a stunning couple – besides, I’ve always loved Jane Birkin. The original Penelope is much more nicer, she has that sweet innocence. Mine instead is twisted and calculating.” Dakota was disappointed by the fact that she wasn’t on set the day Tilda Swinton sang in a stadium. In reality, it was San Siro and singer Jovanotti ‘landed’ the stage to her just twenty minutes before his concert. The audience has been notified of such thing and it went mad. The director also followed Tilda’s advice on losing her character’s voice, “that is why she’s silent for the whole movie.”

Did Guadagnino warn Dakota that Venice can easily turn into a lions’ den? “I’ve been here six or seven times, either as a director or a judge. I feel at home in Venice, it has been both generous and brutal with me.”

Dakota, one question: you have many tattoos, some of them written in Latin even, and in many scenes you’re just wearing a bikini. “We decided not to hide them because Penelope, like myself, is afraid of regretting something that is permanent. She’s afraid of not being able to change what has been done and can’t be undone. When I was younger, I never truly realized how precious my body was. Penelope, in this story, is not aware of the precious things life has in store for her.”

"Dakota Johnson hadn't shot 'Fifty Shades of Grey' at the time, so she wasn't a star but just a cute girl," says Guadagnino.

...

Dakota is cute with her sweet wickedness and the skill to influence adults. Sure the 'Fifty Shades of Grey' whips and handcuffs made her a star, but Guadagnino made her more interesting and believable.

And who does she see wearing her brand? “Dakota Johnson. She’s the new IT girl and she has the face where she can pull of any outfit from any century!  Plus she’s so diverse.”

Before “Married,” he played a big brother to Dakota Johnson as a young, single mom in the short-lived Fox sitcom “Ben and Kate.”

Faxon isn’t surprised that Johnson turned out to be a scene-stealer in “Fifty Shades of Grey.”

“She is very adept at playing many things,” he said. “One of which is the sort of frazzled, sort of uncomfortable, foot-in-mouth scenario. … And she does it really, really well. … Not to say that’s like all she does. That’s one thing that I always remember from ‘Ben and Kate.’ I was like, ‘Oh, you’re so good at that.’ ”

Fifty Shades of Grey isn’t exactly parent friendly. Especially if that parent happens to be Don Johnson.

While appearing at the TCA press tour on Wednesday to promote his new ABC drama Blood and Oil, Don spoke to ETonline about how his daughter, Dakota Johnson, did not want him to see her portrayal of Anastasia Steele in the sex-fueled film based on E L James’ best-selling novel.

“She asked me not to see the movie, and frankly that’s not a movie that I would rush to see,” the 65-year-old actor said. “I respected her wishes. So I haven’t seen it.”

Understandable, of course, given how there are several highly intimate scenes in the film chronicling Anastasia’s intense romance with the S&M-loving businessman Christian Grey (Jamie Dornan).

As for Don’s new show, don’t expect Dakota to be guest-starring any time soon.

“She’s kind of busy, and I don’t know if we can afford her,” the Hollywood vet said before playfully gesturing to his publicists. “Want to pay Dakota’s fee? I think I’m still a trustee, we might be able to make a deal,” he joked.

Paper Towns is a lot about really strong friendship. How important is that to you, and how easy is it to have in this industry?

I love people, and I love my friends more than anything. Friends are family to me in so many ways. I still have all my old best friends I’ve had since I was at school, but I think along the way I’ve managed to meet a lot of amazing, incredible, inspiring people who again, yes are as busy as me, but it’s the nicest thing in the world where you kind of can find time in the busiest of schedules to kind of meet up, and we understand each other. We go through the same thing, we have our private lives, public, and it’s nice to have that — people to rely on.

What friend do you call if you’re having a really bad day?

Again, I speak to a bunch of people every day. From my oldest friends like Georgia (May Jagger) and Suki (Waterhouse), to like, Jordan (Dunn) to Dakota (Johnson), or Kendall (Jenner), or you know, any of them, like I’ll call pretty much every day. I FaceTime Taylor every week. FaceTime is the best thing in the world, it really is.

You're the Spanish Christian Grey because you've been working with Dakota Johnson. How was the experience with Amenabar and Dakota?

Quim Gutierrez: Dakota is very normal. It is surprising, but it should be generally the case. She’s a really calm girl, normal, always telling jokes and very profesional when it comes to acting. She's so good.

GLAMOUR: So when do you start filming 50 Shades Darker?

Eloise: I'm not sure I'm allowed to say but it is happening and I am really looking forward to seeing the rest of the cast again and the crew. We had such a wonderful family and I mean, obviously it was a very bonding experience to shoot this movie because there was so much hype around it and so much anticipation and so everywhere we went there was fans. We all bonded a lot throughout the whole experience so I can't wait to see them again.

GLAMOUR: And how did you and Dakota work on your chemistry when you were rehearsing and things?

Eloise: We got along really well right off the bat, most of the stuff was in our apartment for the first few weeks of filming so we were getting to know each other in the process of filming. She is so much fun, she is super hilarious and we bonded over the process of it all, and the excitement of it all and had a great time together.

-How was the experience of working with Dakota in the spot?

Alejandro Amenabar: "It's a strange situation because in short movie you meet the people just some minutes before starting filming but I think she had a lot of fun. We were very lucky because the weather in Ibiza was amazing. We had some beers with her and it was a very good time."

How is Dakota?

Quim Gutierrez: Even though she's a Hollywood star, she's humble and friendly. She was really really tired because of the long flight but she was always smiling. She was a surprise, she made everything easy.

Has she got any dive whims?

Quim Gutierrez: No, not at all. She was integrated since the beginning, joking and fooling with us.

Does she speak Spanish?

Quim Gutierrez: She doesn't speak, but she understand it perfectly.

'Fifty Shades of Grey' star Dylan Neal had revealed Sam Taylor-Johnson was ''very comfortable'' directing the movie based on the best-selling novel.

The 48-year-old director recently announced her decision to walk away from the money-spinning franchise, but according to Dylan Neal, there was no sign of her unhappiness on the set of the first movie.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, the actor - who starred as Bob Adams, the step-father of Dakota Johnson's on-screen character Anastasia Steele - said: ''She was lovely. She was really, really lovely."

''My scenes were with just Dakota and Jennifer [Ehle] - they were really simple scenes, nothing complicated, but she [Sam] seemed very relaxed and she just seemed like a lovely women, a great sense of humour and very comfortable in the role of directing this highly scrutinised film."

''I wish I could have spent more time with her and the cast, but my takeaway was someone who was very comfortable and confident in knowing what she wanted.''

What's more, Dylan revealed he still doesn't know whether he'll return to the role for the next movie in the franchise.

He said: ''I had to sign a multi-picture deal.

''I don't believe Bob is in the second book, but I know he is in the third book. But each of these screenplays are going to be there own thing and how much they follow exactly from the books - I have no idea, so I don't know if I'll be in the second one or not.

''I know it's been out there that they're going to put a slight thriller angle on them, so you know there is going to be a slight departure from the books and that's probably a smart decision too.''

'Fifty Shades of Grey' is available on Digital HD now and Blu-ray, DVD on June 22, 2015 from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

Victor Rasuk thinks it will "suck" not having Sam Taylor-Johnson direct the next 'Fifty Shades' movie.

The 31-year-old actor - who starred as José Rodriguez in 'Fifty Shades of Grey' - has revealed his personal disappointment at Sam's decision to walk away from the sequel, but is "excited" to welcome a new director.

Victor said: "Obviously I have both a personal relationship with her and Aaron [Taylor Johnson]. It's rare you get to work with people you love.

"We all had a personal relationship with her so we're all going to miss her. With Sam, she did such an amazing job, especially with Dakota [Johnson] as she was completely instrumental in bringing out that female voice."

"Obviously that's going to suck. But a new director will bring a new voice and I'm excited about having that."

Victor also revealed he's looking forward to reprising the role of Anastasia Steele's best friend in the follow-up movie, having developed a good working relationship with 'Fifty Shades' author E.L. James.

He admitted: "I'm very excited. Like you, I don't know much about it, but it is evident from the books that Jose is in all three.

"[E.L. James] and I had a good relationship, so I'm hoping [I'll be asked back]."

Grammer, 23, was warned by another former Miss Golden Globe, Dakota Johnson, that the awards show can get out of hand. No big surprise given the event’s famed tradition of free-flowing booze.

"She told me that she had issues with Harrison Ford when she did it (Miss Golden Globe in 2006)," Grammer says.
